Reddit stock watchlist
Reddit Stock Watchlist: Uber, Hertz and Autonomous Trucking
edition · Discussion buckets: October 30–November 5 · Prices: November 5, 2026 regular-session close (U.S. Eastern).
The useful divide is not AI believers versus skeptics. It is between businesses with demonstrable cash generation and investments that still depend on financing, flawless execution or a favorable exit. Uber, Hertz and Aurora offer three different ways to test that distinction away from the busiest chip-stock arguments.
The signal beneath the selloff
Six dated buckets; 250 distinct exact texts. Repeated entries remain in the raw attention measure.
890 explicit ticker or issuer-name occurrences. These are text mentions, not investors, holdings or votes.
Uber: distribution. Hertz: cost execution. Aurora: manufacturing and runway. Low attention is not evidence of undervaluation.
The summaries repeatedly contrast AI suppliers with their customers: a supplier can report strong demand while a customer absorbs the capital bill. That distinction is useful, but it does not immunize chip suppliers against delayed projects or weaker customers. The Nebius–IREN comparison makes the financing trade-off explicit; the Reddit debate asks whether better monetization can compensate for reduced search referrals. Neither question is answered by a falling share price alone. 11-04 #8; 10-30 #4.
The strongest counterweight to the dip-buying enthusiasm is the prevalence of options gains, losses and recovery stories. Those describe payoffs after the fact, not a repeatable investment edge. In particular, a leveraged fund's previous recoveries cannot guarantee its next one; daily resetting makes the path matter. 11-04 #17; 11-05 #35.
Attention is concentrated, not conviction
All occurrences in title and text, including repeated entries; URLs, obvious homonyms and generic references to Reddit as the venue are excluded. Generic Alphabet/Google names are assigned to GOOGL for counting; explicit GOOG mentions are separate. This is not a share-class preference. One long post can dominate a count: Cameco has 22 occurrences across just two summaries, versus Nvidia's 46 across 25.
The broader AI argument remains two-sided. Bulls emphasize existing demand, software ecosystems and hardware bottlenecks. Bears emphasize cash consumption, valuation and the possibility that construction or financing slows. Political explanations in the discussion remain opinions, not a settled causal account of market moves. No sentiment percentage or probability of recovery is inferred.
Three less-obvious ideas with measurable tests
Uber: distribution is valuable only if it retains economics
The November 4 discussion models Uber as the demand layer for autonomous fleets; the November 5 summary highlights a new Prime delivery relationship. Together they suggest a more concrete thesis than simply buying beaten-down technology: can a large consumer network keep its take rate as supply changes? 11-04 #14; 11-05 #9.
Uber's November 4 company release reports third-quarter gross bookings of $59.8 billion, up 20%, revenue of $14.8 billion, up 10%, and $2.5 billion in free cash flow. Revenue growth and bookings growth are not interchangeable: the company says business-model changes reduced revenue growth by eight percentage points. Its $1.4 billion GAAP operating income also should not be confused with $3.0 billion adjusted EBITDA.
TechCrunch's November 5 reporting confirms Prime ordering through Amazon and no delivery fee on qualifying orders over $25. That is distribution, not disclosed incremental profit. Conversely, November 4 reporting on Waymo says Austin and Atlanta exclusivity ends in January 2028—not that all Waymo rides disappear from Uber. The distinction matters: competition for the customer relationship is the risk, rather than an already-complete severance.
Test: follow trips, bookings, margin and cash conversion together. A partnership headline without durable unit economics would weaken the thesis. The verified November 5 close was $68.78; no target price is adopted from the discussion.
Hertz: a turnaround, not a short-squeeze forecast
The November 5 pitch combines improving results with a highly speculative options payoff. Only the operating question deserves to carry forward. 11-05 #57. On the November 5 earnings call, management reported $2.6 billion in revenue, up 5.6%, and $233 million in adjusted corporate EBITDA, up 15%. But management also acknowledged an EBITDA shortfall caused by elevated costs and international softness. A stronger year-over-year result can still disappoint the plan.
Test: does the spread between rental revenue per day and operating expense per day keep improving, and does fleet depreciation remain controlled? Revenue momentum without cost progress is not enough. The November 5 close was $1.79. The post's short-interest numbers and “ten-bagger” language are not treated as verified evidence or a return forecast. This is a higher-risk turnaround, not a defensive substitute for technology exposure.
Aurora: industrial scaling is the investable question
An October 30 participant sees autonomous trucking as an industry disruptor. That is an idea to investigate, not a valuation. 10-30 #6. The October 28 earnings call supplies a sharper test: third-quarter revenue was $3 million, operating loss was $257 million and operating cash use was approximately $170 million, with another $36 million in capital expenditure. Management described a production ramp roughly six weeks behind plan and revised full-year revenue expectations to about $9 million.
Test: the stated goal of 20 trucks per week in early December is a management target, not an achieved November production rate. Production, deployment, customer commitments and funding must advance together. More than $1 billion in cash and short-term investments provides a buffer, not self-funding economics. The verified November 5 close was $4.03. Safety, manufacturing delays and further dilution remain decisive risks.
Watchlist and disconfirming evidence
| Security | Mentions / summaries | Close | What must be proved | What breaks the thesis |
|---|---|---|---|---|
| UBER Uber Technologies · NYSE | 14 / 2 | $68.78 | Distribution and growth convert to durable cash. | Direct autonomy competition compresses economics. |
| AUR Aurora Innovation · Nasdaq | 2 / 1 | $4.03 | Manufacturing ramp becomes deployed customer capacity. | Delays and cash burn outrun financing capacity. |
| HTZ Hertz Global Holdings · Nasdaq | 6 / 1 | $1.79 | Rental improvement survives cost and fleet pressures. | Cost execution fails despite stronger revenue. |
Prices and identities: Uber, Aurora, Hertz. Only the explicitly dated November 5 closes are used; later premarket quotes are excluded. These are research ideas, not recommendations or calibrated forecasts.
The complete verified mention table
“Mentions” counts every non-overlapping occurrence of an explicit ticker or verified issuer name in the summary title and body. “Summaries” counts entries containing that security, not unique authors or original posts. Exact duplicate entries are retained. Brand-only references are not assigned to a parent security unless the issuer is named; source-provider and portfolio-list references are included when they identify a listed company. Ordinary words such as “now,” “spot” and Eastern Time are not tickers.
Bull and bear columns summarize the arguments present in the discussion, not verified company guidance. Where no operating case is established, that limit is explicit—it does not imply neutral sentiment. Corporate identities are verified separately from financial claims. Each row links to representative dated summary evidence below.

Coverage, uncertainty and reading the evidence
The sample consists of 252 aggregated discussion summaries from r/stocks and r/wallstreetbets: October 30 (71), November 1 (8), November 2 (33), November 3 (29), November 4 (36) and November 5 (75). There is no October 31 or November 6 bucket in this sample; neither absence establishes that no discussion occurred. The November 6 date is the editorial edition, not a claim of a completed November 6 discussion sample.
These summaries do not identify authors, votes, comments or individual post links, so they cannot support claims about independent investor conviction, engagement or exhaustive Reddit coverage. The two exact-text duplicate pairs are the Reddit post-mortem and the IPO-liquidity explanation. Similar-but-not-identical texts may also overlap. Titles can refer to another calendar day: one November 5 bucket item describes a November 6 Korean market event. Its later market figures are not used here.
The literal tokens SIVE, MBGL, IQQ and SKHY each occur once but are not assigned a verified listed-security identity. Generic Brookfield and Hyundai-group references do not uniquely specify a listing; brokerage shorthand RH is not assigned to the furniture retailer. Private-company and unresolved-name mentions are not transformed into invented tickers. Generic Berkshire names map to Class B for identification only. Korean listings use the corresponding KRX codes; references to their prices after the cutoff are excluded.
Bottom line: insist on an operating milestone and a funding test before turning attention into a position. Uber offers cash-generation evidence, Hertz offers a cost-control recovery test, and Aurora offers a manufacturing milestone with substantial funding risk. The best question is not which stock is mentioned least; it is which thesis can be falsified with the next observable result.
Dated discussion evidence
Representative titles and short excerpts from the dated discussion summaries. Item numbers refer to entries within each daily summary bucket, not Reddit post identifiers. Their purpose is attribution, not endorsement of financial claims. Original post permalinks and engagement counts are not supplied.
